Two hospitals in the Awutu Senya East and West Municipalities welcomed a total of nine babies on the eve of Christmas and Christmas day.

The hospitals recorded eight births, comprising seven males and two females on Christmas eve and one birth on Christmas day.

The Kasoa Polyclinic under the Awutu Senya East Municipality welcomed a total of eight babies within the two festive days.

The facility recorded seven births, consisting of six males and a female on Friday, December 24, and welcomed one baby girl as of 1300 hours on Saturday, December 25, 2021.

At the Awutu Health Centre in Bereku, a 3.1kg baby girl was born on Christmas eve while no birth was recorded on Christmas day.

Bernice Yeboah, the Midwife in charge, indicated that both the mother and the baby were doing well and were discharged on Saturday afternoon.

“Last year and 2019, we recorded a lot of deliveries, including twins. But this year, they didn’t come at all,” she observed.

The Saint Gregory Hospital at Gomoa Budumburam and the Mother and Child Hospitals were not forthcoming with their records, citing confidentiality and administrative protocols as reasons.
