The United States emerged as the leader in the medal tally at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, narrowly surpassing China.
The US concluded the Games with 126 medals, including 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze. This final tally was secured with a decisive victory in the women’s basketball final.
China finished in second place with a total of 91 medals: 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze.
Japan secured third place with 45 medals, while Australia finished fourth with 53 medals. Host nation France rounded out the top five with 64 medals.’
Africa’s Performance
Kenya led the African continent with 11 medals, including four gold, placing 17th overall. Other African nations with medal wins included South Africa, Algeria, Ethiopia, Egypt, Tunisia, Botswana, Uganda, Morocco, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Notably, Ghana and Nigeria did not secure any medals at these Games.
The next Olympic Games are set to take place in Los Angeles in 2028.
