The University of Development Studies (UDS) and the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) have set new records in the men’s and women’s 4×400 metre events in the ongoing 2020 GUSA Games.

University of Development Studies broke the record set by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) which was 3:46.16 minutes in 2018.

The team, which was made up of Kate Agyemang and Rafiatu Nuhu, bettered their performance from last year and did a time of 3:44.3633 minutes to clinch gold.

Grace Obour and her University of Ghana teammates had a bad day at the office as they could not make a podium finish despite the loud cheers from the home crowd.

UCC, however, beat all odds to win silver with a time of 3:50.709 minutes while University of Education, Winneba was third with a time of 3:55.343 minutes.

Gad Owusu led the UEW to victory ahead of the University of Ghana and smashed the 4×400 metre record in the process. They recorded a time of 3:09.259 in the final and put the previous record of 3:11.30 minutes, which was set by the UCC, to bed.
