Uganda: Olympic hopefuls skip national trials

Ganzi Mugula

Ganzi Mugula might be waiting to make a trip to the London Olympics later this year but his preparation won’t include participation in the national trials.

Work commitments have prevented Mugula , also a member of the Ugandan team at the All Africa Games last year, from taking part in the competition set for Kampala International School (KISU) this weekend.

He is the only Olympic hopeful missing as Jamila Lunkuse, currently in the UK, is also absent from the first event of the season for the Uganda Swimming Federation (USF).

The two-day competition has attracted Arnold Kisulo, Conrad Gaira and Joseph Kabogoza. The best performers will make the team for the Africa Championships (Cana) in Maputo, Mozambique in April. Races include the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m for the different styles with the Individual Medley (IM) offering the climax.
