Uganda late on Wednesday received the third batch of 175,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines through the World Health Organization (WHO) Covax facility.

According to the Ministry of Health, the vaccines were a donation from France through the vaccine sharing facility. The ministry is optimistic that the donation will boost its fight against the pandemic that is now in its second wave in the country.

The first and second batch of the AstraZeneca vaccines were 964,000 doses from the Covax facility and the Indian government.

A total of 806,129 people have been vaccinated as of June 14, according to the Ministry of Health. Enditem
