Ugandan Police Arrest Senior Journalist

The Uganda Police have arrested a senior journalist over allegations that he is involved in subversive activities.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said on Tuesday in a televised media briefing that Samson Kasumba, a news anchor at one of the local television stations, was arrested on Monday night.

“He is a subject of investigation and it is not in any way connected to his journalistic work but he is being investigated together with others for alleged subversive activities,” Enanga said.

“Our experts, detectives from the electoral and political offences department managed to interrogate him this morning and we are going together with him to conduct a search at various places of interest,” Enanga added.

The police spokesman added that Kasumba was in good state of health and was cooperating well with the investigators.”Any details will be availed in due course,” Enanga said.
