The increase in the price of food and other non-alcoholic beverages has pushed Uganda’s inflation in the last 12 months ending May 2022 to 6.3 percent, up from 4.9 percent registered in the year ending April 2022, the country’s statistics agency said Tuesday.

Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) in a statement issued here said the other driving factor of the high inflation is attributed to the energy fuels and utilities prices.

The UBOS said for the year ending May 2022, core inflation increased to 5.1 percent, up from 4.3 percent registered in April 2022. Enditem
