Uganda’s ruling party nominates Museveni to run in 2016 polls

Uganda's ruling party has nominated incumbent President Yoweri Museveni to run for the presidency in the 2016 general elections.

The National Resistance Movement party on Sunday nominated Museveni as the only candidate that will carry the party’s flag in the elections slated for early next year.

Museveni in his acceptance speech pledged to eradicate corruption if elected noting that the existing corruption in government departments is due to the inadequate machinery to investigate the vice.
He also pledged to fast track the country’s industrialization.

In the forthcoming elections, Museveni is likely to tussle it out with among others former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi who was sacked after expressing interest in taking on the highest office. Enditem
