UN mission helicopter crashes in eastern DR Congo

Eyewitnesses said the Ukraine-made plane crashed just 10 meters after takeoff.

“No death or injuries were reported. The helicopter was taking off to go and carry out an operation. MONUSCO has already instituted investigations to know the cause of the accident,” said Mamadou Diallo, the deputy special representative of the UN secretary general in DR Congo.

The crash occurred in a town where DR Congo armed forces in collaboration with MONUSCO forces, have launched an operation to track down Ugandan rebels, the Allied Democratic Forces. Enditem
