A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device was detonated at the entrance of the camp which was followed by exchange of fire, Haq said at a daily news briefing here, citing reports of the UN Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
“During the attack one member of the UN Police was slightly wounded.”
The Malian Armed Forces have recaptured the camp, Haq said, adding that the UN Mission flew two attack helicopters and drones over the site.
Mali descended into conflict after a coup in 2012, and has faced an insurgency led by Islamist militants.
MINUSMA has more than 8,000 military personnel and nearly 1,000 police. It was set up in April 2013 by the UN Security Council. Enditem
