Under-17 World Cup: Mali Shatter The Starlets Dream

0

The National Under-17 side, the Black Starlets failed to advance to the semi-finals of the ongoing Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Under-17 World Cup in India.

The Starlets lost 2-1 to old foes Mali, in an encounter that saw the two sides struggle to string passes together on the soggy pitch, due to a heavy downpour hours before the match.

Mali scored a goal in each half through Hadji Drame and Djemoussa Traore in the 15th and 61st minute with the second half goal as a result of goalkeeping error on the part of the Ghanaian goalie.

Ghana pulled one back in the 70th minute through Kudus Mohamed who converted a penalty awarded the Starlets, but was not enough for them to get the much needed equaliser.

The Starlets have thus completed their journey in the competition.
