A Ghanaian Journalist and former Brong-Ahafo Regional Correspondent of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Raphael Godlove Ahenu has received an international award from the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace as an Ambassador for Peace, in recognition of his immense contribution to promoting global peace.
Mr Ahenu is currently the Founder/CEO of Global Media Foundation, human right and anti-corruption media advocacy organisation serving as a voice for the voiceless in society.
The Ambassador for Peace Award acknowledges individuals whose lives exemplify the idea of living for the sake of others and who dedicate themselves to practices which promote universal moral values, strong family life, inter-religious co-operation, international harmony, responsible public media and the establishment of a culture of peace which transcend religious and political barriers.
Presenting the award, Dr Helen Osei, the Secretary General of UPF commended Mr Ahenu for using his NGO to touch lives and promote peace and urged him not to relent in his resolve to influence policies for the benefit of the vulnerable in the society.
Mr Ahenu expressed gratitude to the organisation for recognizing and awarding his efforts. He said the honour would go a long way to motivate him to continue to play his advocacy role towards influencing policies.
He also encouraged his colleague media practitioners to take advantage of the numerous opportunities to also contribute in addressing societal challenges.
