The University of Cape Coast (UCC) clarified on Thursday that the appointment of Vice Chancellor Prof Johnson Nyarko Boampong remains unaffected, countering earlier reports of termination.
A letter purportedly terminating Prof Boampong’s appointment, signed by University Council Chairman Prof Harold S. Amonoo-Kuofi, was circulated earlier and needed clarification.
However, UCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Major Kofi Baah-Bentum, underlined that the Council, as the highest decision-making body, had not convened to discuss or decide on the Vice-Chancellor’s tenure.
The latest council meeting, held on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, was reportedly focused on matters unrelated to the Vice-Chancellor’s position, demonstrating the University’s commitment to addressing various issues.
Major Baah-Bentum emphasized, “The University community and the public are urged to disregard any misinformation regarding the status of Prof Johnson Nyarko Boampong’s appointment.”
The clarification from UCC aims to dispel confusion and reaffirm Prof Johnson Nyarko Boampong’s ongoing tenure as Vice-Chancellor, ensuring continuity in our leadership.
