The Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) chapter of the University of Ghana, City Campus, has inducted new executives into office to manage the affairs of the group for the next one year.
The new executives have Gidisu Seyram Bright as President, Glapke Bruno John, Dromo Odoom, Humphrey Nartey and Dzifa Dekavie as vice President, General Secretary, Propaganda Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Others are Lambert Tamakloe as Financial Secretary, Kukey Chantal and Aseye Gakpetor as organizing secretary and women?s commissioner respectively.
The handing over and induction ceremony which coincided with the 10the anniversary of the City Campus chapter of TEIN, was performed on behalf of the National Youth Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress by Mr Thomas Ashong, Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the party.
Key personalities who witnessed the event included Minister of State at the Presidency and MP for Ketu South, Hon Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey; deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations and MP for Nanton, Hon Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; Sam George Nartey, a Communications team member and Wonder Madilo, who represented the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.
Addressing students during the induction ceremony, Mr Ashong urged the students to be disciplined and strive to live up to the ideals of the NDC and work for the party to retain power in the 2016 elections, adding it was time they cease to be sympathizers of the party by taking advantage of the party?s ongoing biometric registration to acquire membership cards.
He advised the students to be present and vigilant at their respective branches to avoid persons from other opposition party from acquiring NDC membership cards, saying ?if you allow people who are not part of you to get the cards, they will determine who becomes your leaders from the constituency to the national level.?
On his part, Mr Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey urged the students to continue to propagate the good works of government to the people, adding, that will enable more people to vote for the NDC to retain power in 2016 to continue the Better Ghana Agenda in order to improve the lot of the people.
According to him government was doing its best to develop the nation to improve the living standards of the people; for which reason he said, government has introduced measures to address challenges facing the economy.
Mr Kwetey said since the ?enemies? of the government had refused to acknowledge the good work of the NDC, the student must join the fray to tell the success story of the governing party.
The deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mr Ibrahim Murtala, whiles revealing that some members of the opposition NPP have been feeding the public with falsehood, noted that the NDC as a party has the plight of the nation at heart and that it will continue to ensure that the peace and tranquility in the country will be maintained even as government find ways to put the economy on track.
Gidisu Seyeram Bright, President of the new executives thanked the members for electing them and promised that they would not abuse the confidence reposed in them.
He said the party must harness the talent of TEIN members to prosecute the Better Ghana Agenda as TEIN forms the intellectual hub of the party, adding that the student wing of the party has produced a lot of young and intelligent politicians for the party who are contributing to the development of Ghana.
