Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Upper Manya Krobo, has rejected accusations that he incited his supporters to attack those of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during a recent clash.

The altercation occurred on August 26 when alleged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) questioned the presence of equipment from the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) at a hotel owned by the NPP parliamentary candidate.

The equipment was reportedly branded with the candidate’s images.

Two individuals were injured in the confrontation.

In response to the incident, Nyarko called for the relocation of the equipment to the assembly premises to help restore peace in the area.

In an interview with Citi News, Nyarko refuted the claims of incitement, stating that the confrontation escalated when NPP supporters, allegedly in a tipper truck, threw stones at his vehicle.

He emphasized that he was not responsible for his supporters’ actions and criticized the District Chief Executive (DCE) for allowing the situation to develop.

“The equipment was paraded along the street, and when it approached my residence, the NPP parliamentary candidate got out to direct traffic.

” His supporters in the tipper truck threw stones at my vehicle, which accidentally hit their chairman,” Nyarko explained.

He urged the DCE to act impartially, as his role is to represent the entire district rather than a single party.

Nyarko also expressed frustration that his warnings about the equipment’s inappropriate branding were ignored.
