UPSA wins National Accounting Quiz

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has won the maiden edition of the National Accounting Quiz which was held in Accra at its Auditorium .

While Central University also emerged as the second winner in this groundbreaking Accounting Quiz Competition.

The National Accounting Quiz Competition was organized by Young Professional Accountants Network in collaboration with University of Professional Studies .

According to the Executive Director of Young Professional Accountants Network Ghana, Mr. Oheneba Kwabena Kena, said the objective of the competition was to provide an exposure and also garner the interest of students to learn and gain knowledge about the accounting field and the accountancy profession”.

This he said, the event will go a long to provide an opportunity for students from various institutions to get to know each other, building an effective network and eventually growing and adapting to the ever-changing outside world.

According to the Head of Accounting Department, Dr. Helen Ahulu, UPSA is proud to collaborate with Young Professional Accountants Network to co-host this year’s National Accounting Quiz.

She also added that accounting quiz is the best platform to motivate and enhance the student’s knowledge in the field of accounting.

According to the Head of Media and Publicity of the NAQ, Mr. Isaac Amponsah, as this is the first time the accounting quiz was held for accounting students, there was an overwhelming response from the students of various universities. The institutions were grouped into four and the competition was fierce.

Two universities from each group moved to the quarter finals of the competition.

There were four rounds of quizzes; the preliminary, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final.

At the end of the competition, UPSA was crowned as the champion of NAQ 2017.

The prizes of the National Accounting Quiz are : scholarships, investment and cash prizes, student accessories, internship and job opportunities.

NAQ 2017 was organised by the Young Professional Accountants Network and endorsed by the Ministry of Education.

The event’s sponsors are Databank, Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, YPAN Consult and Ramafrique Limited.
