Joe Biden says he will attend Ghana?s clash against the USA

United States Vice-President Joe Biden will watch his country?s 2014 World Cup opener against Ghana in Brazil next month, the White House has revealed.

Biden says he plans to meet with Brazilian President Dilma Rouseff while in Brazil next month for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Biden shared the news with Rouseff by phone on Thursday.

The White House says Biden told her he plans to attend the June 16 match in Natal, Brazil, between the U.S. and Ghana.

Biden will later visit the national capital, Brasilia, to meet with Rouseff and Brazil?s vice-president.

Biden?s meeting with Rouseff comes amid ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Brazil over American surveillance and revelations that the National Security Agency spied on Rouseff and her closest advisers. Rouseff cancelled a state visit to Washington last October in protest.

Brazil expects 600,000 foreign visitors and 3 million Brazilian tourists during the month-long tournament.
