Mr Stephen Wilson Bojewura, the newly appointed National Head, Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs Organisation, Ghana Chapter, has urged the youth to arise, take their destinies into their own hands and liberate themselves from poverty.

He said they could achieve that through entrepreneurship and industrialisation and not rely only on government jobs.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency following his new appointment, Mr Bojewura wondered what had changed such that Africa, which boasted of rich and powerful empires in the past, could barely cater for the needs of her citizens now.

“What has changed today? Ghana and Africa for that matter has the best natural resources we can think of. Why are we poor? Why are the youths jobless? It appears there will be no solution from our leaders. We as youth, therefore, must arise, take our destinies into our own hands and liberate ourselves from poverty through entrepreneurship,” he noted.

Mr Bojewura, the Chief Executive Officer of Skylink Agro Solution Ltd, processors of cassava into various derivatives for industrial use (brewery, plywood/paper, bakery and animal feed) said the future of Ghana and the continent could be guaranteed if leaders would reconsider their ways and draft policies that provided a platform for youth entrepreneurship, growth and development.

“The youth is our tomorrow. If we don’t get it right with the youth at the moment – build their capacity, help them to be diligent and committed to changing their lives through hard work and determination and getting them to make hay while the sun shines, then we do not have any future.”

“It simply means we cannot even have any rest and live a comfortable life even after we may have made it to the top.”

“No society will have peace while the youth hunger or are in need. We have to, in our own small way, contribute to building a future in which we will all live peacefully by deliberately investing in it.”
