Out of 43 cases, meningitis is reported to have killed 5 persons in the Upper West Region this year.

The region is embarking on sensitisation programme to avert future outbreak.

These cases were reported within the first three weeks of 2017.

The regional director of health Dr. Winfred Ofosu on the sidelines of a meeting of regional epidemic management committee in Wa disclosed this to Ultimate News.

According to him, the cases were reported in 5 out of 11 districts in the region.
