Volta One Television (V1 TV) and Global FM, a local media house in Ho, the Volta Regional capital has presented assorted items including; nose masks to the Volta Chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and other institutions towards the fight against COVID 19.

The other items are; Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, tissue papers and liquid soaps.

Apart from GJA, the Ho Poly Clinic, Ghana Private and Transport Union (GPRTU), Ho Market Women, Ho Central Prisons and the Cured Lepers Village received the items.

Madam Dzifa Ativor, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of V1TV and Global FM said the donation formed part of the corporate social responsibility of the Organization.

She said journalists played crucial roles in socio-economic development of the country, thus the need to protect them to discharge their duties effectively.

Madam Ativor said viewers and listeners of the Television and the Radio Stations were also much important to the Organization hence the gesture.

The CEO urged market women to endeavour to adhere strictly to the World Health Organization’s safety protocols of washing hands regularly with soap under running water and using sanitizers among others to stop the spread of COVID19.

Mr A. B. Kafui Kanyi, Chairman, Volta-GJA was grateful to the CEO and the Station for thinking about the welfare of journalists.

He said the media was part of essential service providers, thus such supports were needed to protect them as they went about discharging their duties for the good of society.

Mr Kanyi said it was unfortunate that many people forgot about the welfare of journalists though the citizenry was dependent on them for education and information on the disease and commended V1 TV for the foresight.

He said practitioners needed nose masks in particular to protect them during interviews.The Market Women also expressed gratitude to the Station for remembering them in the fight against COVID 19.
