Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to prioritize youth welfare as a central focus of his presidential campaign, promising significant investment in the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) if elected.

Speaking at a ceremony on August 27, 2024, marking the graduation of 10,000 trainees under the YEA, Bawumia emphasized his commitment to expanding the agency’s initiatives to tackle unemployment.

Bawumia outlined plans to enhance support for the YEA, stating, “God willing, when I become president, I will fully support the YEA with massive investment to expand their initiatives and benefit many more youth.”

The event also featured the distribution of starter packs to graduates to help them establish their businesses.

The Vice President also announced the forthcoming launch of the GHartisan app, an online platform that will connect trained artisans with customers nationwide.

“Next month, the YEA will be launching the GHartisan app, which I believe will greatly benefit all trainees,” Bawumia said.

Additionally, Bawumia highlighted the government’s investment of over Ghc6 billion in vocational and technical education over the past seven years, noting that such training has been made accessible as part of broader efforts to support youth entrepreneurship.

The YEA plans to train another 10,000 youths in various trades in the coming months.
