The beneficiaries would include districts in the Eastern and Northern Regions where people with disabilities have been marginalized.

A press release signed by Mr Francis Asong, Executive Director, Voice Ghana and made available to the Ghana News Agency, said Voice Ghana got the extra funding after it successfully conducted a two year project to increase the voice of marginalized people with disabilities in the 10 districts of the Volta Region”.

The release said the project had moved the targeted districts many steps forward in the involvement of People with Disabilities (PWD) in the local government process.

Districts in the Eastern region to benefit from the project would include Afram Plains South, Afram Plains north, Asuogyaman, Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya, Lower Manya, Suhum, Kwahu South, Fanteakwa and Akuawpim South.

Beneficiary districts in the Northern Region are East Gonja, Nanumba North, Yendi, Mion, Kpandai, Nanumba South, Tatale, Karaga, Gushegu and Saboba.

The release said “the project will foster individual and collective capabilities of PWDs from these districts including their groups at the grassroots level, to start participating in the Public Hearing Sessions and Town Hall meetings of their respective assemblies.”

It said the project would also advocate for a full inclusiveness in the 2016 general elections.
