The Volta Regional Police Command has planted a total of 400 seedlings as part of the Green Ghana Project.

Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr Stephen Delaporte, the Commander of the Regional Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD), addressing personnel at the Regional Headquarters stated that he was proud to take part in this monumental exercise as planting of tree seedlings would always serve as a legacy that for generations.

This, he said, was in agreement with the theme: ‘Mobilising for a Greener Future.’

The MTTD commander added that the seedlings would not just be planted but groomed by the Command to ensure that they were properly nurtured to save the depleting forest reserves and combat climate change.

Superintendent Mrs Effia Tenge, the Director of Public Affairs in the Volta Region, underscored the importance of planting trees to mankind, the ecosystem and the environment at large and commended the government for the initiative.

Sixty-one officers planted mahogany, Wawa, rosewood, palm, mango, and orange trees with other Police districts from Ho, Anyirawase, and Kpeve districts participating in the exercise.
