Eligible registrants in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis moved in slowly to the various registration centres of the Electoral Commission to register for their voter identification cards.
Visit by the Ghana News Agency to some of the registration centres indicated that, officials of the Electoral Commission had set up their equipment with few people around to register.
All the eligible registrants spotted at the centres were strictly observing social and physical distancing as well as wearing their nose masks.
The Electoral Commission also provided Veronica buckets, soap and tissue papers and ensured people washed their hands and their temperature taken before taking them through the registration process.
All the centres had Security personnel and health personnel present, with the various political party agents available.
At the Effiakum California Bar No.1, the exercise started at exactly 0700 hours and as at 1100 hours 30 people had registered, while at the Effiakuma California West centre, 40 people had registered as at 1100 hours.
At the Shell Filling Station No. 1, in the Takoradi Constituency a total of people 33 had registered as of 1013 hours, while at the Takoradi Public Library as of 1017 hours a total of 32 people had registered.
At the Services One Primary school, Beach Road 30 people had registered as of 1124 hours.
The exercise also took off smoothly in the Wassa East District and as at 0940 hours a total of 12 people had registered at the Ahinbronum registration centre, while 21 had registered at KKBA Methodist registration centre as at 1005 hours.
At the Health Insurance registration centres 22 eligible registrants had registered as at 1055 hours, while at the St Luke Nutran Church, 30 people had registered as at 1055 hours.
Generally the exercise is peaceful as majority of the registrants are observing the safety protocols.
