The Electoral Commission (EC) has directed the resumption of voting in the Jaman North Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region.
Mr Eric Kofi Fleming Dzakpasu, the EC Head of Communications, said voting was suspended following a disagreement between political parties over the voter register and also a standoff between election officials and the community, which affected the whole constituency.
Mr Dzakpasu, who was addressing the media on the general election, said the Commission had reversed an earlier decision by the District Security Committee (DISEC) in the Jaman North Constituency after a dialogue with the political parties and the EC to postpone voting to Thursday, December 8.
He noted that per the regulation instrument 36 (1) of Constitutional Instrument (CI) 94, it is the Commission acting in consultation with the District Returning Officer that could postpone an election in a constituency.
He said what had transpired in the Jaman North Constituency did not warrant the postponement of the election.
He said as at 1330 hours, electoral materials were being reversed to the various polling stations for voting to begin.
He said anyone in the queue by the close of polls at 1700 would be permitted to vote.
Mr Dzakpasu said the security forces were on top of the situation in the Jaman North Constituency.
