
The programme offers both medium and long-term socio-economic benefits to enhance livelihoods for the women and their families.

These programmes include hairdressing, sewing, textile, technology-related works and construction.
Nana Oye Lithur was addressing a Sensitisation workshop for women head porters (Kayayei), in Accra.
The Minister explained that this would create a more inclusive society with opportunities for all persons.
She said there would be remedial classes for those who wanted to further their education to the Senior High Schools, with scholarships.
The workshop also provided the Ministry and other relevant stakeholders the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the challenges facing the Kayayei for the development of direct intervention programmes and long-term strategic planning.
