We got the job done right against Lesotho-Renard

Herve Renard

We got the job done right today against Lesotho, Zambia coach  Herve Renard said after winning 4-0 in Ndola.

The win eased the pressure on Renard who had been under-fire after Zambia squandered a 1-0 lead in the first leg on March 24 draw 1-1 in Maseru and prior to that flopped at the 2013 Africa Cup where they failed to defend their crown.

The victory was also Zambia’s biggest home win since crushing Comoros 4-0 onSeptember 5 in a 2012 Africa Cup qualifier in Lusaka under ex- coach Dario Bonetti.

“I think the players did what we wanted them to do,” Renard said.

“They played with a lot of determination.

“We had to believe in ourselves.  I told them don?t disappoint your fans’.”

Zambia secured their win thanks to goals from Christopher Katongo, Collins Mbesuma and Jacob Mulenga brace in a game they dominated from start to finish.

“We scored four goals but we will know at the end if it will be enough for us in the remaining two games,” Renard said.

Zambia switch their focus on Sudan whom they host at the same venue on June 15 in their penultimate Group D match before heading to Kumasi this September.

Chipolopolo lead Group D on 10 points,  Ghana are second on nine points, Lesotho stand still in third place with two points  while Sudan stay riveted at the bottom on one point after four games played.
