On April 11-13, 2024 volunteers of the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship, and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS) joined the people of Venezuela and millions of other voices around the world to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the thwarted coup that briefly toppled the legitimate and democratically-elected government of the late President Hugo Chavez. The coup which lasted for a little more than 48 hours, left hundreds dead and thousands injured. We remember all those who lost their lives in that deplorable coup, which was executed on the 11th to the 13th of April, 2002 with the support and backing of Washington.

On this 22nd anniversary of that fascist coup, we, the volunteers of the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship, and Solidarity, reaffirm our unflinching solidarity with Venezuela on the occasion of the defeat against the enemies of peace, democracy, and freedom in that Latin American nation. We call upon the international community to exert pressure on Washington and its allies to end their persecution of the people of Venezuela, which is the basis for the destabilisation of the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of another member state of the United Nations.

In such a situation, which is being worsened by illegal sanctions and an undeclared economic war, the role of the international community and in particular, the United States and its allies have become even more questionable. Instead of moving along a peaceful and harmonious relationship with Venezuela, Washington, and its allies are pushing policies that are centered on persecuting the Venezuelan people, through sanctions, economic and commercial blockade, economic sabotage, diplomatic isolation, and a forceful regime change mantra.

We believe easing the unjust sanctions and ending collective punishment against Venezuela are the necessary and urgent points of departure for meaningful solidarity with the Venezuelan people, and doing away with outdated practices and prejudices. The US must rescind its sanctions, and end its policy of collective punishment, and we make this global appeal for justice and an end to the persecution of the Venezuelan people.

The Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship, and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS) is a not-for-profit that strives to preserve the legacy of Hugo Chavez. The Foundation serves as a voice for peace, dignity, and environmental justice by helping to improve the lives of people.

On this historic anniversary, we once again want to express our unflinching solidarity with Venezuela on the 22nd anniversary of the criminal coup against the government of Venezuela led by the late constitutional President Hugo Chavez. Hugo Chavez was born in Venezuela on July 28th, 1954, and died of a mysterious illness on 5th March 2013.

Chavez lives!
Chavez never dies!!
Solidarity with Venezuela!!!
