Ghanaian footballers who are stranded in Ethiopia have called on the government to evacuate them to Ghana following the cancellation of the football season in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The players in a video led by former Asante Kotoko goalie, Muntari Tagoe, and former Black Stars defender, Lee Addy made a passionate appeal to the government to help bring them back to Ghana saying their rent and work permit would expire by June 30, 2020.

According to them, the Ghanaian consulate in Ethiopia has asked them to pay $2000 to be airlifted by cargo which they found unreasonable.

They stressed that, they used all their monies on food, accommodation adding, they can’t bear it any longer since the Covid-19 has halted football activities among others.

With this, the players have called on government for assistance stressing that they have their return tickets available.
