West Brom goalkeeper insists Robert Madley was right in waving off a penalty shout on Jordan Ayew during the side’s dull draw in the Premier League.

Ayew, often Villa’s only beacon of hope during this season of despair, was also unlucky not to have a won a penalty in the 24th minute when Jonas Olsson slid in from behind.

Instead a corner was given but there was certain contact.

But West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster insists the referee was right with his decision.

“The referee asked me after the game, ‘What do you think?’ I don’t think it was a penalty, more two players coming together.” he said

While Villa had almost two-thirds of possession, Albion were predictably tight.

Villa remain nine points from safety with Championship looming  even larger on the horizon.
