Ms Ewurabena Kobe Bram-Larbi, Chief Executive Officer of Fun for Kids on Friday launched a Play Land at the West Hills Mall.
Ms Bram-Larbi said she established the play land at the mall to alert the general public on the educative and entertaining nature of the play land and also because she has come across many children who wished to read and play around whenever they accompanied their parents or guardians to the mall.
?Staying at the day care centre during my childhood, I learnt to love kids and everything that makes kids happy. This made me develop the zeal to establish a kids play centre whenever I found the opportunity?, she added.
She noted that parents who tend to have challenges in catering for their children due to work or other reasons can seek for their help during working days for an unlimited time at an affordable cost of GHC16 per day.
Ms Bram-Larbi said due to pressure on weekends, GHC16 is charged per hour. However, she indicated that registered members of the play land are charged the same amount per every two hours.
?We also assist kids in their academic assignments, help organize birthday parties for kids and provide them with the necessary attention they need until their guardians return for them?, she added.
She stressed that children who are dropped off after school can also be given skills in craft making with beads, wool and paint.
However, she said the play land is not for only kids but anybody who wishes to read and have fun at the mall.
The play land has electric cars, climbers, rockers, toddlers play area, craft zone, reading lounge, mazes, ball pits, sundry play things, slides, crawling tubes and edible foods such as fresh juice, ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy, pastries and sweets.
Ms Bram-Larbi noted that the play land started operations on October 30, 2014 but was only 50 per cent complete then.
She said they decided to formally open the land after it was fully completed on January 31.
Mrs Mathilda Amissah Arthur, Second Lady of the country, who launched the play land as a Guest of Honour, commended Ms Bram-Larbi for setting up the place since there are only a few play grounds for kids in the country.
She also recommended that the authorities of Fun for Kids should ensure that the place is maintained and workers are periodically trained to achieve the purpose for which the land was established.
