President Goodluck Jonathan will today, Monday, October 20, launch the schools agricultural programme.
The programme is aimed at inculcating the spirit of agriculture into school children through social school clubs with agriculture abd business as foundation and also through collaboration with the Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council(NERDC) in its Agric curriculum formation.
The senior special assistant to the president on schools Agric programme, Dr Baraka Sani, who disclosed this during a courtesy call on the minister of education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau?, emphasized that the success of the programme must to sustained throughout implementation as it sets to address the issue of unemployment especially for those who cannot procede immediately to tertiary institutions.
The programme has a life span of six years within which there will be a withdrawal strategy.
