Will Ferrell says he and Kristen Wiig will no longer star in a Lifetime movie. Titled ?A Deadly Adoption?, the project was supposed to be secret as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of Lifetime?s movie franchise, but it leaked online Wednesday, April 1.
?We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public,? Ferrell said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. ?Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.?
However, reports suggest that the TV movie has finished filming with Rachel Lee Goldenberg (?Escape from Polygamy?) at the helm. Andrew Steele wrote the script, while Ferrell and Adam McKay served as producers. Steele, Ferrell, and McKay previously worked together on IFC?s ?The Spoils of Babylon? which also starred Wiig.
The two-hour movie is reportedly due to premiere this summer. Described as a ?high-stakes dramatic thriller,? it follows a husband (Ferrell) and his wife (Wiig) who take in and care for a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes) with the aim of adopting the baby, only to have the situation spiral dangerously out of control.
