Pastor Solomon Kofi Asante, the President of the Mid-Southern Conference of the SDA Church, who launched the event, said: “It is only when there is peace and tranquility that we, the Ambassadors of the gospel, can propagate the gospel to win more souls for the Lord and other people too can do their businesses without any hindrances”.
The anniversary is under the theme: “Forty Years of Holding on to Biblical Truth; Ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth Shall Make You Free”.
The activities earmarked for the celebration include, health screening programmes, clean-up exercises, out-reach programmes, and prayers for a peaceful and successful election on November 7,, this year.
Pastor Asante explained that the Winneba SDA Church, a branch of the Mid-Southern Conference of the SDA, was established in 1976 with a few people; but its members were now more than one thousand.
He commended the members for their dedication to the service of the Lord and asked them to always let others see the values of Christ in them to emulate.
They should also be alive to their civic responsibilities, he said, and support national development.
Pastor Asante advised the members of the church not to allow themselves to be used by selfish people to fulfill their ambitions, especially, for political positions.
Later, a cake was cut to symbolise the launch of the anniversary, which would be climaxed with home coming activities, a special thanksgiving service and prayers in December, 2016.
