The victim with bruises all over the body
A 29-year-old Togolese trader has been grabbed by the Odorkor District Police Command for burning a 6-year-old child with a hot iron.
Jennifer Mensah, according to information, burnt the child with the iron after being told by a supposed man of God that the victim was possessed by an evil spirit.
Scars and bruises can be found on the victim’s head, back, vagina, stomach and other parts of her body.
The child, whose condition is critical, according to the police report, is currently on admission at the Police Hospital.
Narrating the story to DAILY GUIDE, DSP Jordan Quaye, Odorkor District Police Commander, said the police received a tip off that the trader, Jennifer Mensah, had locked the child in a room at Odorkor near Kpogas furniture, for the past two weeks because of a claim that the victim was possessed by an evil spirit.
When police personnel got to the scene around 1:00pm yesterday, the child was still locked inside the room.
“We managed to break into the room to free the child,” the police capo said.

Bruises were found all over the victim’s body including the head, back, vagina and other vital places when she was physically examined.
“We immediately arrested the suspect and sent her to the station for questioning,” the police stated.
Upon interrogation, the child revealed that the suspect, also her guardian, was not her biological mother.
The victim said the suspect had locked her up in their room but brought her out every morning to torture her.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Mensah denied the charges when she was interrogated, blaming another maid for inflicting the burns on the victim.
Information gathered indicated that the father of the victim, whose name was only given as Mr. Tetteh from Amasaman, sent the victim to the suspect to serve her as a maid servant, seven months ago.
The father never visited the child ever since he took her to Jennifer’s home, but only called the suspect to find out how the child was doing.
The victim however gave the name of the mother as Mama Becky but could not help the police to locate her.
DSP Quaye said the suspect would be sent to court soon while police made efforts to locate the parents.
