The Women of Power and Transformation Inc (WOPAT) has taken another giant step by launching an initiative dubbed: “One Billion Successful Women Entrepreneurs. “
The initiative was launched in Accra is aimed at empowering one billion successful women entrepreneurs across the globe in order to become economically independent.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Prof. Michelle Walker-Davis who is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of WOPAT hinted that the initiative would use different interventions to resource women to be successful entrepreneurs by 2030.
These women from all over the world, including Ghana, will be able to improve their lives through entrepreneurship and other enterprises, such as getting into nonprofit organizations and also by equipping them with a variety of initiatives.
Prof. Michelle Walker-Davis stated that, although funds are not yet available, her organization will work around the clock to ensure that funds are made available to help women.
“We don’t have a pool of money sitting there, but we do have a pool of money that we know is available.” “I know there’s $850,000 in free money out there, so I’m going to work like hell to make sure we get it and put it in our application for our ladies,” she discloses.
The successful entrepreneur is optimistic that with her current project, assuring that businesses and prominent women such as Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markel will come on board to lend a helping hand to uplift their fellow women.
The Founder and President, Women in Leadership International (WILI), Rev. Nana Yaa Tina Owusu-Prempeh lauded the initiative; stressing that it will go a long to liberate women from economic hardship.
She stated that in order for women to stand tall and contribute their quota to national development, they must be economically empowered.
We are going to make sure that women who are ready to work are given small amounts of money to establish their own enterprises.” We have the ability to transform people’s lives, and we will do so one at a time.
Traditional leaders such as a King and a number of Queens, led by the Nungua Okpoi Gonno, Nana Oye Adesey Omanyesane III, graced the event, which was held in grand style in Accra.
