Jeffrey Wularu beats Amos Kumah to win the 2nd edition of Junior tennis Open Tournament at the 4 Garrison Officers Mess tennis club house.
Over 100 junior players were fed breakfast and lunch from KNUST tennis club, Kumasi tennis club, Ashanti tennis club, golden tulip tennis club, Obuasi tennis club and host 4 Garrison tennis club.
4 Garrison Officers Mess prodigy Jeffrey controlled his play from the back of the court with his fluid two handed backhand and heavy forehead and won 4-2.
Speaking to ghanatennis.org, Jeffrey Wularu said, “am happy to lift the trophy for the first time because last year I got into the semifinals but didn’t make it to the finals”.
In the boys 14 and under; Kwame Nkrumah Science Technology( KNUST) tennis club’s Hope Gbogblover showed his superiority over Suleman Issah, beating him 4-0.
In the Boys 16 finals it was all 4 Garrison Officers Mess home affair as Bernard Mensah ousted Cyrus Amangure 4-3(5).
In the girls events: Lordina Aidoo, Samuella Mensah and Maame Akua won the girls 16,14 and 12 respectively.
Speaking during the closing ceremony Coach Albert Offei Asiedu said, ‘ I have being like you all before, this sports(tennis) has done a lot for me, I wouldn’t have been able to do this if I didn’t take my education seriously. You can’t become a better person if you don’t study, my advice for you all is to take your education serious and do the best you can with your schooling.
The one-day tourney was sponsored Coach Albert Tennis Academy in collaboration with 4 Garrison Officers Mess with support from Kinder Circle, Reston Shirt, CES Contemporary Electric Services and Aqua Blue Mineral water.
Coach Albert Aseidu Offei gave all the participants assorted tennis items such as tennis racquets, tennis bags, grips, tennis hats and tennis shoes.
