Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the overlord of Gonjaland, has proposed the establishment of an annual conference for chiefs and kings in Northern Ghana to enhance regional development and unity.

In a recent visit to the palaces of the King of the Mamprugu Kingdom and the King of the Dagbon Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I emphasized that the conference would promote peace, unity, and collective development across the northern regions.

The Gonjaland monarch highlighted that the proposed annual conference could also serve as a platform to address and resolve longstanding land boundary disputes.

He presented the proposal during his visit to Yendi in June and reiterated it during a visit to Nalerigu in the Northeast Region on July 28, 2024.

“Just as I did on my visit to Dagbon, I propose that there is the need to establish an annual conference of kings and chiefs in Northern Ghana focused on the collective development of the North,” Yagbonwura said.

The conference, envisioned to rotate among the northern regions, aims to unite local leaders and their communities around a common goal of development and dispute resolution.

In addition to his proposal, Yagbonwura expressed gratitude to the Nayiri of Mamprugu for the support and brotherhood shown during his enskinment and coronation, acknowledging the powerful delegation sent by the Nayiri to Gonjaland.

“My speech would not be conclusive if I didn’t express my appreciation to Nayiri for sending a powerful delegation to my enskinment and coronation,” Yagbonwura said, reflecting on the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and his people.
