Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Soale Jewu Soale has lifted the ban imposed on Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, from visiting any palace in Gonjaland.
The ban was rescinded following a crucial intervention by a government delegation led by Chieftaincy Minister Stephen Asamoa Boateng, who appealed on behalf of the lawmaker, underscoring the government’s commitment to resolving such conflicts.
Abu Jinapor had been barred from Gonjaland palaces after the Yagbonwura accused him of undermining traditional authority and inciting disrespect towards the Gonja kingdom.
Addressing the issue, the Yagbonwura reiterated concerns over Abu Jinapor’s alleged misuse of government influence to bypass traditional directives. “Abu Jinapor uses government powers to subvert traditional authority,” he previously stated.
The ban’s revocation follows a statement reaffirming the Yagbonwura’s unwavering resolve against perceived disrespect toward Gonja traditions. Chief of Sakpala Jantonwura Peter Awusi Yakubu reiterated that the ban remains in place until Abu Jinapor demonstrates respect for traditional authority, emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation.
The intervention signals a potential resolution to the conflict, highlighting the promising ongoing efforts to reconcile governmental and traditional interests in Gonjaland, instilling hope for a harmonious future.
