Fear has gripped the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joseph Yammin after receiving a scary text message threatening his life.

The short message was sent to the NDC capo on his MTN line on Monday around 4:08pm whilst he was working at the party office at Asafo.
The text message also made threats on the lives of three other leading members of the NDC in the region namely, Wofa Yamoah Ponkoh, MCE Ejisu/Juaben, Alhaji Tapsoba, National Deputy NYEP Coordinator and Tony Nyame, DCE Atwima Kwanwoma.

The message read: “I want to assure you Yammin Yamoah Ponko Tasoba Tony Nyame that we have your car numbers and we are trailing you. We will finish you. You people can call it a bluff but.”

Yammin who looked shocked by the strange text message has since lodged a complaint with the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Timbillah. He has equally informed the Ashanti regional Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and has even forwarded the text message and the mobile phone number from which it was sent to the BNI to help in their investigations.

Yammin said he was not aware of any person or group that could be behind the threat, stressing that since the issue was about his life he was not treating it lightly.

He also could not confirm whether his own NDC members or supporters of the NPP or any other political party were trying to take his life, adding that he has faith in the police and the BNI to arrest the culprit soon.

Yammin is one of the most respected and powerful NDC members in the Ashanti Region that would be highly relied upon by the ruling political party to win more votes for them in the upcoming general elections.
