Yaya Toure named 2015 BBC African Player of the Year

Ivorian star Yaya Toure has been name the 2015 BBC African Player of the Year with Ghana’s Andre Ayew missing out on the top award.

The 32-year-old garnered the most votes to clinch the award for the second time ahead of Yacine Brahimi, Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang, Andre Ayew and Sadio Mane.

Toure becomes only the third player to win the prestigious award for the second time, following in the path of Nwankwo Kanu and Jay Jay Okocha.

The former Barcelona star led Cote d’Ivoire to a successful campaign at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where the beat Ghana in the finals through penalties.
