The Chairman of Harmony Youth Club in Agona Swedru, Mr. Bismark Eyison has appealed to the Agona West Municipal Assembly to constitute sanitation task force to ensure that offenders of sanitation rules were brought to book.

Mr. Eyison made the appeal after a three-hour clean-up exercise organised jointly by his club, Ewo Nkwoa and Ewo Adze Keep Fit clubs and Zoomlion in Agona Swedru.

They cleaned gutters, swept and collected refuse along the road.

He said the exercise was their contribution to make the town clean, adding that they would at the end of every month organise the exercise to help prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases like cholera, diarrhoea, malaria and fever in the town.

Mr. Eyison appealed to people, who dump refuse in gutters and drains, to desist from such practice since it is a crime.

He also appealed to the Assembly to periodically organise sanitation education programme to educate people against environmental dangers. He added that offenders should be dealt with drastically when caught to serve as deterrent to others. GNA
