Zambia benefits from Chinese skills transfer in construction projects

World construction forum to be held in Turkey

A Zambian contractor has commended AVIC International for skills transfer as local Zambian firms were contracted on various jobs during the rehabilitation of the road network in Chingola.

Nelius Mumba, director for Lwiche Contractor Limited, said there was skills transfer during the period his firm worked with the Chinese company.

“Our workers are able to do a lot of jobs in construction because of the skills learned from the Chinese,” he said.

“As we continue working with the Chinese, we are learning something from our counterparts in terms of commitment to duty,” he said.

John Kasanga, an employee of Lwiche firm said he was able to work on part-time jobs because of the skills acquired from the Chinese.

Kasanga said it takes commitment for one to acquire skills from the Chinese, especially in construction.

“I have been committed to duty and this is the reason why I have acquired skills from the Chinese experts,” he said.

He commended the Chinese for the technology and skills transfer from which a good number of Zambians have benefited. Enditem
