The Zambian government said on Tuesday that it was hopeful that additional climate change financing will be provided by the Green Climate Fund for climate change adaptation and mitigation programs.

According to Chola Chabala, ministry of National Development Planning Permanent Secretary, the Green Climate Fund has agreed to table two proposals from Zambia.

According to him, during the Green Climate Fund board meeting recently, Zambia redoubled its bid to elicit support for the Transforming Landscape for Resilient Development project which has an initial support of 100 million U.S. dollars from the World Bank.

The Green Climate Fund, he said, has agreed in principle to provide an additional 75 million dollars for the project implemented in three provinces. Enditem
