Authorities in Zambia on Thursday announced the cancellation of “network and service licenses issued to Mobile Brandband Limited trading as Vodafone Zambia Limited”.
The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority said it canceled the license after the firm failed to fulfill the eligibility requirements by not being technically and financially capable of meeting obligations as well as terms and conditions of the license.
The cancellation shall take effect 30 days from the 20th of September 2019, Emmanuel Musonda, the regulator’s chairperson said in a release.
“The cancellation of the license entails that Mobile Broadband Limited will cease to operate as an electronic communication service and network provider,” he said.
He further said the regulator was aware that the cancellation of the license will inconvenience too many customers who had subscribed to the network.
The firm launched its operations in 2016, introducing the first 4G high speed mobile internet network into the Zambian market. Enditem
