Authorities in Zambia have declared Dec. 24 as a half-day working day in order to enable public service workers to prepare for Christmas celebration, a government official said on Tuesday.
Secretary to the Cabinet Simon Miti said the government has also given all public service workers a half-working day on December 31 this year to give them enough time to prepare for New Year celebrations.
The workers are expected to work from 8 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. hours in these two days, he added.
He however said in a statement that other institutions which provide essential services to the public are expected to make adequate arrangements for the two half-working days to ensure that provision of such services was not disrupted. Enditem
