A Zambian government agency responsible for managing disasters on Friday said it was dispatching a team of experts to three districts to conduct a rapid assessment on affected infrastructure following a report which has called for a need to attend to the problems.
A report released by a parliamentary committee which conducted a tour of disaster prone areas in some districts on the Copperbelt and Northwestern Provinces called for an urgent need to deal with the situation before the onset of the rains.
In a statement, the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit said Vice-President Inonge Wina has called for the conducting of a rapid assessment of affected infrastructure in the three districts.
The statement said the situation was an emergency which must be worked on before the onset of the 2019/2020 rainfall season in order to prevent more disasters. Enditem
