The Zambian government has been urged to promote China-Zambia youth partnership in technology to accelerate national development to be spearheaded by the young entrepreneurs in Zambia, young people said on Thursday.
The youths further stated that they were ready to partner with their counterparts in China for increased technology skills transfer which is beneficial to Zambia. Norah Banda, Chingola Youth Skills Centre representative said the Zambian government should bring together Chinese and Zambian youths together through partnership in various skills transfer exchange programs. Banda said the business ventures in technology will result in increased national development in the southern African country. She was speaking in an interview with Xinhua during the celebrations of Youth Day in Chingola that the China-Zambia bilateral cooperations should be extended to youths who are the majority of Zambian population. And Joshua Mumba, another youth based in Chingola said exchange programs between China and Zambia are important if the youths of Zambia are to acquire knowledge from the developed nation. Mumba said just like the theme of Zambian Youth Day “Take a Lead,” Zambian youths should lead in acquiring knowledge if they are to play an important role in national development.
According to Mumba cooperating youths in China-Zambia bilateral relations will foster partnerships on group level apart from concentrating on national level alone. And Minister of Youth and Sports Development Emmanuel Mulenga said youths are the majority of the Zambia’s population who requires support to be part of national development. Mulenga said Zambian youths were being encouraged to play a role in national development through various partnerships with other countries.
