Health authorities in Zambia on Tuesday condemned a video that has gone viral showing patients at a COVID-19 isolation facility dancing.
In the video shot in one of the isolation facilities in the northern part of the country, patients could be seen dancing and singing.
Zambia National Public Health Institute Director Victor Mukonka said the video was in bad taste and that corrective measures have since been instituted.
He said during a daily COVID-19 update that the country was dealing with a very serious disease.
He said the government has put in place various measures to treat patients and that the isolation centers have been established for patients to recuperate from.
Zambia has reported 11 new cases in the last 24 hours. This brings the cumulative total of the cases to 772 more than 60 days after the first case was reported.
The pandemic, which was initially concentrated in Lusaka, the country’s capital, has since spread to other parts of the country. Enditem
