Zambia to learn from China’s economic, political success

A senior Zambian government official said Friday that the southern African nation seeks to draw practical lessons from China's economic and political success.


Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rayford Mbulu said Zambia stands to benefit greatly from China’s success story if it emulated the hard work and determination of the Chinese people which has enabled the Asian nation rise to be one of the second largest economies in the world, according to state broadcaster the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation.

ZambiaIn remarks delivered during a reception to mark the 2016 Chinese Spring Festival in Lusaka, the official reiterated his government’s decision to foster bilateral ties between the two countries.

On his part, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming said China will continue to foster the cordial relations with Zambia, adding that bilateral relations between the two countries posted significant growth last year.

The Chinese New Year is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional Chinese calendar.

It is also known as the Spring Festival. Celebrations traditionally run from the evening preceding the first day to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first calendar month.

This year, the Chinese New Year falls on Monday. Enditem
